Tasting

Our Lalande de Pomerol wines are not complicated to enjoy. People like them simply for what they are. Lalande de Pomerol dapts beautifully to a wide range of cuisines: Picard, Alsacian, Belgian, Japanese, Australian or American.

It goes with an amazing number of dishes. It is sometimes said that there's no accounting for taste. And yet… just the opposite is true. People enjoy talking about what they like. The art of winetasting lies in being able to describe the sensations we feel.

Our wines are ideally suited to this art - and should we say, this science. The people in the Bordeaux wine industry have some strong ideas about how to make the most of our wines.
The first step is to admire the wine's colour, usually a beautiful garnet-red that turns brick red on the rim with age.
Lalande de Pomerol wines are meant to be aged. Their ageing potential is proof of our winemaking skill, and winelovers who wait to drink our wines prove that they respect what we do.

Enormous care is taken in the cellar to ensure the wine is well made: excellent hygiene as regards vats, pipes and pumps, meticulous racking every three months, carefully-dosed aeration, fining, light filtering, etc.
Each winegrower chooses the ideal percentage of new barrels - always made out of the finest close-grained oak- that will give the desired amount of oak tannins and flavour. Barrel-ageing lasts from 18 to 24 months, after which the wine is bottled. The cellarmaster keeps a close eye on all cellar operations.
