Consider the grape vine… It lives as long as the winegrower. It takes a lifetime to choose the right rootstock, fertiliser, pruning methods etc. - some forty years, thousands of hours of observation, thought, and passionate discussions.

Consider wine… Its long ageing from fermentation up until the moment it is poured in the glass. Barrels, racking, topping up, fining…. What an incredible amount of scientific studies, cautious choices and tender loving care it all takes!
It is also essential to know how to inherit this winemaking know-how - and to be able to pass it on to the younger generation. Each winegrower should contribute to local tradition, and be able to adapt and start over again with patience and tenacity.
The men and women of our region have showed their ability to do this, with good humour and passion. Each of the appellation's estates and chateaux reflect these traditions. Drinking a Lalande de Pomerol is a way of communing with centuries of passion and tradition.
