The Syndicat

The vineyards of Lalande de Pomerol were entirely wiped out by the phylloxera between 1870 and 1880.
The Syndicat Viticole de Lalande de Pomerol was created in 1884. Its initial purpose was to distribute money to devastated winegrowers. In time, the syndicate was transformed into an organization to oversee the quality of viticulture and winemaking in the Lalande de Pomerol appellation It currently includes 194 members, and is run by a president and a board of directors. The current president is Jean-Daniel Roland.
